UK Sustainable Combustion 2050 Strategic Forum

White paper for government
70 academic and industry experts in sustainable fuels, combustion and fire hazards attended a one-day forum in March 2025 to dissect and debate the facilities and research capabilities for thse fuels – inc. hydrogen, ammonia, methane, biofuels like ethanol, and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
I curated a group of five journalists to record the discussions, provide edited notes and then authored a white paper on SCs for government, agencies, investors and stakeholders

The Story of The JCB Academy

The JCB Academy works with many large and small local businesses that help deliver practical, often demanding challenges for the learners, including Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, Bosch Rexroth, Bentley Motors, Network Rail, Rolls-Royce and Michelin. Learners present their practical projects to an assessment board that includes directors at these companies and JCB. Some alumni are now senior managers in large engineering companies and some run their own businesses.

More important than academic excellence here is to instil professional behaviours and to prepare learners holistically for work. “That is our DNA,” says Principal Jim Bailey.

For schools, educators, and businesses interested in knowing how to integrate or mould a school curriculum with business, to understand what companies need in their workforce, this is a good guide.

MBDA

80 YEARS OF MANUFACTURING AT LOSTOCK

MBDA has changed its name and location a number of times over eight decades, culminating in our latest and most comprehensive move from Lostock to Cutacre in Bolton in 2017, MBDA’s 80th anniversary.

This book is a celebration of 80 years of aerospace manufacturing and Lostock’s role in it, and I look forward to the next 80 years of MBDA achievements.
