Future of Work (“FOW”) is a campaign to showcase jobs in advanced manufacturing to teachers, parents, students and careers leads.

Live events host c. 300 people – or up to 500 in two cohorts – in a day.

Manufacturing and engineering companies provide pitches, often given by young employees, that show their job, the training, responsibilities, teamwork; also the end-product’s purpose in society, Net Zero solution, and how the job/s are changing – such as digital technology and AI.

A contemporary, up to date and positive review of these jobs.
These talks are filmed and shared with schools that attend, and more schools and colleges in the region.

We work with partners like the Combined Authorities to achieve this.

The FOW events also:

  • Book work experience placements
  • Arrange ‘Teacher Encounters’ with companies: teachers spend a day in a business and then bring some of that into the classroom.
Presenting companies can use the videos in their HR campaigns, and they receive an impact report some months after the event, to see the effect the videos had on students, 13-18, and their attitude to manufacturing careers.

Work exp. Placements and Teacher Encounters are also captured in the report.

Funding

In 2024 the campaign was mainly funded by ERA Foundation, an education and public awareness foundation. Now it is operating independently and we are looking for partners and funding.

We produced four conferences in October at JCB, Renishaw, University of Warwick and Eastern Education Group in Suffolk
